I Didn’t Intend to Look Like Sid Vicious Today.
But I kind of do. It’s feeling like a really long week.
Shirt: Metro Park. I love how I’ve been seeing students in Joy Division t-shirts recently. This second generation looks more social than the first. And just to be clear, I wasn’t part of the first. I do like this song, and all that Joy Division represent in music history, but I’m really fascinated by the co-opting going on with this t-shirt.
Pants: Sears. I’m pretty pleased with these pants, and all the associations: 80’s, 50’s, punk, new wave, retro.
Ankle boots: Excelsior Goodwill. They’re Steve Madden. I have the pink version, which I got at Lord & Taylor. I think I can say exactly the same thing about these boots that I said about the pants.
Jacket: a little shop in Cincinnati, near the Convention Center. It was marked down to $5. I thought it would last one season and I’ve had it about seven years now.
Rhinestone skull earrings: Hot Topic.
Necklace: thifted in Evansville.
Arms: brown & black stud bands, Wet Seal; silver bangle set, Dogtown (STL) rummage sale; others, thrifted & TJ Maxx.
Sunglasses: that little place on Durant in Berkeley.
I could go on and on about how postmodern this outfit is, but I’ll just leave it for now.
