Really, My Favorite Dress
Paint splattered, gathered like some old fancy drapes.

Photos by Daisy in our neighborhood, 8/26/14. I’ve been way too busy at work to take pics there. The semester starts tomorrow.
Warning: I’m feeling really preppy lately. First these pants, then I ordered a shirt from Lands’ End.
Pants: Target: Top: Sears; Shoes: Isabel Toledo for Payless; Necklace: H&M; Belt: thrifted; Sunglasses: Hot Topic; Earrings: Kohl’s.

For the swirly Pucci-esque dresses my mom wore to her secretarial job in the early 70’s; and for that Revlon ad from the 80’s: “Red, she said.”
Dress: Ross; Pumps: howcool.com; Bag: coachfactory.com; Swirly tights: JCP; Bracelet: F21; Sunglasses: modcloth.com.

Here I am by this scary looking cellar door thing, where someone wrote Do Not Enter, as if, and it’s opposite the fascinating giant doors we found two days ago.
P.S. There was a turkey wandering around.
Skirt: F21 from the Goodwill; Sweater & tights: Sears; Scarf: Payless; Docs: DSW; Bag: coach.com; Earrings: Walgreen’s; Bangles: Charlotte Russe and thrifted; Sunglasses: Lola Star on Coney Island.

My friend Genie—whose full name is Eugenia, which I love—wears these harem pants and I blatantly copied her look. Seriously, I asked her where she got them and just went out and got the same pair. She doesn’t seem to mind. I love the shape—they kind of make you look twice, like wait what are those?
Pants: Eileen Fisher, from lordandtaylor.com; Sweater: F21; Shoes: Christian Siriano for Payless; Earrings: thrifted; Sunglasses: Hot Topic.

A fine line between Audrey Hepburn and a caterer
I couldn’t figure out what to wear, and I remembered this ad for White House/Black Market, where they were pushing white shirts—“the iconic starlet shirt, the iconic artist shirt” etc.—so I went with that. But without the scarf I looked like a caterer.
And Oh my gosh, how bout those huge doors? They make me look miniature. We found them behind Hearst. No idea what the story is.
Shirt: Banana, from the Excelsior Goodwill; Pants: Express; Loafers: Bass outlet in Lake of the Ozarks; Scarf: vintage Pucci! from a thrift store; Bracelets: Wet Seal; Earrings: Claire’s; Sunglasses: Hot Topic.

Texture: tweed and sequins
I got this skirt years ago and have almost gotten rid of it several times, but can’t because brightly colored tweed always reminds me of Chanel. And I loved all the rainbow stuff from Chanel this spring, so I was inspired to keep it still, and try to find something to mix it with.
P.S. I love the pink lining, and what appears to be the fall leaves.
Skirt: BCBGMaxAzria from the outlet at Lake of the Ozarks; Top: Target girls dept.; Pumps: 9 West store; Bangle: BeBe; Earrings: Ambiance; Sunglasses: Walgreens’s; Beige fishnets: The Icing.

Here’s where the strings come in.
This dress is so awesome—I look like a musical instrument, according to my husband—but Laura and I couldn’t quite capture it’s greatness, so here’s a picture from the website. (Maybe we needed more than two minutes and a iPhone at the end of a workday.)
Dress: venus.com; Flats: Marshall’s; Bracelet: Kohl’s; Tights: Sears; Sunglasses: F21.

Middle School Orientation Night
Working some kind of 80’s punky vibe.
Shirt: MetroPark; Skirt: JCP; Leggings: Walgreen’s (I discovered my skirt was way too short with bare legs so I got these at lunch. Not very punk of me at all, I know.); Boots: Clark’s; Skull earring: Hot Topic; Safety pin earring: Multikulti; Bracelets: F21, Charlotte Russe, alloy.com; Sunglasses: modcloth.com.

Do you remember the toy? That’s what the print made me think of.
Skirt: JCP; Top: J. Crew from the Excelsior Goodwill; Scarf: Nordstrom; Faux Birkenstocks: Target; Beanie: my husband’s and he doesn’t remember; Earrings: St. James the Greater flea market; Sunglasses: Hot Topic; Bag: Coach Factory store.

I really liked the pattern on this skirt and top—like a pink and purple thunderstorm.
