Geometry
It’s all about the squares and circles today. I think I got a C in geometry in high school, which was kind of devastating. It’s OK now.

Swingtown
I was attracted to the super-bold graphic print and color combo, and then when I tried it on it totally reminded me of that show Swingtown from a few years ago. It was set in 1976 suburban Chicago, and the costuming was compelling, especially for Trina, the sassy neighborhood swinger. This is totally a Trina dress. (Note to the husband: I have no interest in swinging.)

True to Myself
I ran into my friend Mona yesterday, who said she noticed that since I started my new job, my outfits seem a little more conservative. Although I haven’t consciously been dressing more subdued, I think she’s right! Like maybe I’ve been thinking I have to slowly ease into my new environment before I bust out the color explosion. So Wednesday was the day.

Near and Far
Up close, I love this outfit because of the intricate geometric pattern throughout and on the borders. You might notice I echoed the theme with my jewelry, and I was especially excited about this cube necklace, which I’ve never had a need for before today.
But from far away, I look like Ellie May at the hoedown, as the geometric pattern turns into gingham and my tiered skirt looks so do-si-do. Not that there’s anything wrong with square dancing, it’s just not what I was feeling.
