First Day of School
Busy day, busy suit. I like to commemorate the start of the semester with an appropriate outfit.
Suit: bostonproper.com; Shoes: 9 West store; Gold beads: Community Thrift; Multi beads: Excelsior Goodwill; Earrings: Walgreen’s; Sunglasses: F21.

Really, My Favorite Dress
Paint splattered, gathered like some old fancy drapes.
Dress & tights: Sears; Jacket: H&M; Boots: DSW; Belt: from another dress; Necklace: from Becky; Earrings: thrifted; Bracelet: F21; Sunglasses: Buffalo Exchange.
Photos by Daisy in our neighborhood, 8/26/14. I’ve been way too busy at work to take pics there. The semester starts tomorrow.
Warning: I’m feeling really preppy lately. First these pants, then I ordered a shirt from Lands’ End.
Pants: Target: Top: Sears; Shoes: Isabel Toledo for Payless; Necklace: H&M; Belt: thrifted; Sunglasses: Hot Topic; Earrings: Kohl’s.

My friend Genie—whose full name is Eugenia, which I love—wears these harem pants and I blatantly copied her look. Seriously, I asked her where she got them and just went out and got the same pair. She doesn’t seem to mind. I love the shape—they kind of make you look twice, like wait what are those?
Pants: Eileen Fisher, from lordandtaylor.com; Sweater: F21; Shoes: Christian Siriano for Payless; Earrings: thrifted; Sunglasses: Hot Topic.

A fine line between Audrey Hepburn and a caterer
I couldn’t figure out what to wear, and I remembered this ad for White House/Black Market, where they were pushing white shirts—“the iconic starlet shirt, the iconic artist shirt” etc.—so I went with that. But without the scarf I looked like a caterer.
And Oh my gosh, how bout those huge doors? They make me look miniature. We found them behind Hearst. No idea what the story is.
Shirt: Banana, from the Excelsior Goodwill; Pants: Express; Loafers: Bass outlet in Lake of the Ozarks; Scarf: vintage Pucci! from a thrift store; Bracelets: Wet Seal; Earrings: Claire’s; Sunglasses: Hot Topic.

Stormy Pink and Black
I really liked the pattern on this skirt and top—like a pink and purple thunderstorm.
Skirt and top: Sears; Jacket and one bracelet: TJ Maxx; Belt: spiegel.com; Boots: Vince Camuto from Heels.com; Earrings: from Bevin, from Nepal; Sunglasses and two bracelets: F21; Other bracelet: Community Thrift.

So happy with this pattern mix! I like this much better than when I wear a plain navy jacket. But it was kind of cute with black last time I wore it.
Dress: NE Q&J Boutique; Jacket: Luella Bartley for Target, from the Goodwill; Belt: from King’s Grandma Beulah; Pumps: 9 West store; Polka-dot bracelet: Goodwill; Earrings: Cosmopolitan Travel and Thrift in Waikiki; Sunglasses: Hot Topic; Beige fishnets: The Icing.

I think Venice is on my shoes.
Dress: boutique near campus; Shoes: 9 West from DSW; Beads: Community Thrift in the Mission; Earrings: from Kitty; Sunglasses: Stinson Beach Market.

Sometimes I’m inspired by Milli Vanilli.
Jacket and necklace: H&M; Tunic: Yesstyle; Leggings: variety store in the Mission; Sandals: Elizabeth & James from Loehmann’s; Bag: coachfactory.com; Bracelets: F21; Sunglasses: Lola Star on Coney Island.

I know this is a questionable dress—it’s got those weird white spaces, that Ed Hardy vibe, maybe it’s actually a swimsuit coverup?—but there’s something really compelling about it for me. The bright colors for one, the placement of the heart over my internal organs, the red sparkles over the heart which give it some kind of blood-of-Christ allusion. (Here’s a closer picture, from the last time I wore it three years ago.)
Dress: store in my neighborhood; Fishnets (with black tights underneath), shoes and sunglasses: Hot Topic; Heart pendant: JCP; Three other necklaces: thrifted and gifted; Plastic bangles: F21; Gem bracelet: Kohl’s; Earrings: ABC Trading Co.

My Hiking Outfit
Note that I don’t actually hike; this was just like a walk around a big lake with some trees and rocks.
Tee: Tilly’s; Belt, shorts and sunglasses: Target; Sneakers: Asics from Champs; Hat: Target; Bag: lesportsac.com.

Right now, I’m actually very dusty and not so glamourous (except for yesterday’s Disco Bingo post), so here’s something I wore back in April on my last vacation, when I was heavy into 70’s jetset.
Dress: JCP; Sandals: Elizabeth and James from Loehmann’s; Scarf: vintage, thrifted; Necklace: Macy’s; Bracelet: New York & Co.; Earrings: Claire’s; Sunglasses: Buffalo Exchange.
