EECS (Electrical Engineering & Computer Science) is a really big major here in the College of Engineering. I’m not the EECS adviser—I’m Civil, and Industrial—but I have love for everyone.
I really like the contrast of the hi-tech leggings with the boho-inspired scarf, both in that awesome green.

Big Stripes, Big Plaid
I love it. It’s evidently Gaultier-inspired, according to my friend Kate, who brought me Christmas CD’s and homemade caramels.Thank you Kate!

Copying Winter Shapes
I admired someone else wearing a long sweater so here I am in a long sweater. I really like all the unevenness and asymetry. Including how it’s kind of sharp one minute then flowy the next.
Sweater: Speigel.com; Boots: Vince Camuto from Heels.com; Leggings: Kohl’s; Tee: H&M; Cowl: it came with a sweater from NY & Co; Hat: Sears; Sunglasses: Air & Space Museum gift shop.

It’s like some ‘70’s holiday party hostess who wants to bust out of her proscribed social roles.

Here’s two things I love: a harlequin print and glen plaid. Glen plaid seems a little more special because you don’t see it for women as much. I think there must have been a jacket that went with these pants, and man would I Iove that.
Pants: Rachel Zoe, from Loehman’s; Sweater: vintage 80’s Adrienne Vittadini, thrifted; Pumps: Via Spiga from Loehman’s; T-neck: H&M; Earrings: from Kate; Sunglasses: Lola Star on Coney Island.

I Like the Angles
What can I say, if it’s graphic hot pink and orange I’ll buy it.
Sweater dress: my neighborhood Goodwill (and I know it looks like it’s from the 80’s, but it was new w/tags, and not deadstock. And It had giant shoulder pads that I excised.); Boots: H&M; Earrings: The Icing; Bangles: F21, Macy’s, thrifted; Tights: Sears; Sunglasses: F21.

I was a little grumpy and tired on Monday. The red and aqua combo got me through it.

Black Friday Spectator
On the day after Thanksgiving, I like to go to the mall in downtown San Francisco, have a snack and watch people. I don’t shop (except for an Auntie Anne’s pretzel with caramel and a couple Diet Cokes); I just the watch the personal style parade. And Daisy visited Santa.

Why do my leopard tights look blue?
They didn’t IRL. Oh well. I still had a lovely Thanksgiving, and 7-year old Stella let me borrow this cute hat for the photo. She looked a little alarmed when I asked to use it, and when I returned it she said “You know that was made for a dog, right?”
Dress: Gap, from the Excelsior Goodwil; Boots: Alloy.com; Tights: The Sock Shop; Necklace: Charlotte Russe; Sunglasses: F21; Bracelet: Avril Lavigne for Kohl’s; Earrings: Joan Rivers for QVC. (Wow, Joan Rivers and Avril Lavigne in one outfit.)

I forgot to plan my outfit last night…
so this is what I came up with in the morning. It’s a little disorganized, but I love the textures and colors. Especially the chains on the jacket and all the sparkly fibers.
Jacket: Excelsior Goodwill; Sweater & Sunglasses: F21; Jeans: Alloy.com; Shoes: 9 West; Earrings: SA in Evansville.

My outfit elicited several “Twiggy!” exclamations.
It wasn’t intentional on my part; I just came across these shorts in the closet and it was easiest to put all black with them.
Shorts: thrifted from Savers; Sweater: Lauren Ralph Lauren, from the Excelsior Goodwill; Belt: ?; Cap: the Bandolino store; Boots: Nordstrom Rack; Bracelet: Sears; Earrings: Ambiance; Sunglasses: Dollar Store.

Reluctant Soccer Mom
My outfits run the gamut from flamboyant and unusual to dressed like everyone else. Although I generally don’t like being dressed like everyone else, I do like trying on different personas, including Soccer Mom. I wore this to an actual soccer game in which my actual daughter was playing, so I guess that makes me a soccer mom regardless of the outfit. But the combination of the neutral colors, the expensive boots and purse, and the silhouette make it seem like that other kind of Soccer Mom—the kind that’s actually invested in the game, and therefore, maybe a better mom than I am.
(Note that no other moms were dressed like this, so I’m not sure where this vision of Soccer Mom hangs out.)

Esprit & Mucha
I loved all the color flecks in this 80’s Esprit sweater, and figured it would look good with these leggings and provide the butt coverage I like. And then I wanted something to fill in that big v-neck, so I was happy with the leopard scarf, but it ended up being so hot on Friday, I took it off and forgot it for the pictures.
I especially adore the side of the leggings, and how they just kind of glow.

Lou Reed Tribute Outfit
I was sad on Sunday. He sang a song with my name in it; it was a successful pickup line in a crucial relationship when I was 19. And once I started listening to VU in 1987, I basically couldn’t stop for 15 years. It was kind of like Lou Reed was my introduction to the alterna-world. Satellite of Love is one of my all-time favorite songs.
