Hips.
I got some.
When I was younger I would have looked at that top picture and cringed, unfortunately. Why did I want to be straight up and down? (Just kidding, that’s rhetorical—I know why.)
This outfit is so awesome it kind of makes me feel like Superwoman.

Maxi dress
I love the design. That huge starburst/flower thing on the bottom half, and the band around my hips.

Saving for a Sunny Day
You know when it’s a cold rainy day in the dead of winter and you find a cute summer top on the markdown rack? And you buy it because it’s a great deal, of course, but also because it’s like a reminder that it’ll be sunny and warm again before you know it, and you’ll get to bust it out and celebrate.
That’s what this outfit was about.
Top: Macy’s; Skirt: F21; Shoes: Payless; Belt: JCP (it came with a dress); Brown bangle: Baker’s; All other jewelry: thrifted; Sunglasses: Tsering Jewelry.

All-over prints
Love ‘em. Kind of surprised to find this at Target. I’m not sure what it’s referencing, but I thought it was beautiful.

CalDay
I talked to so many nice prospective students and parents today at the Linguistics table! Hope you guys come to Cal!
P.S. I hella love the liberal arts.

Suit
Actually, separates from different places, but it all works together fine. I like how it ended up looking like the mid-60’s.
Jacket: Banana, from their store, part of a suit I bought for an interview last year; Blouse: F21; Pants: Caché; Pumps: vintage, thrifted in Evansville; Earrings: The Icing; Sunglasses: Lola Star on the Coney Island Boardwalk.

Just a black dress.
It’s actually more of a delivery device for the necklace, which I’ve been waiting to wear.
Dress: Banana, thrifted from the Excelsior Goodwill; Necklace: Sears; Tights & bracelets: F21; Earrings: Joan Rivers for QVC; Boots: vintage 80’s Enzo Angiolini, thrifted from the Evansville SA; Sunglasses: thrifted from the Bloomington Goodwill.

Geometry
It’s all about the squares and circles today. I think I got a C in geometry in high school, which was kind of devastating. It’s OK now.
Dress: vintage 70’s, thrifted from my neighborhood Goodwill; Necklace: vintage 70’s, from Costume Delights in Bloomington; Boots: Lauren Ralph Lauren, gift from my bro; Earrings: Target; Sunglasses: Tsering Jewelry on Durant; Tights: Capezio from SF Dancewear.

On my way back from lunch I noticed the arch of this bridge I cross every day, and got all excited because the arches are my favorite part of these leggings.

JP-fest
JP is me (Jane Paris); this dress, which I think of as my Jackson Pollack dress; and Jonathan Poullard, UC Berkeley’s Dean of Students, who sponsored a really nice event yesterday that made me feel all warm and fuzzy about my profession.
Dress: Sears; Jacket & boots: H&M; Bracelets: F21; Earrings: St. James the Greater Flea Market in Dogtown (STL); Sunglasses: Tsering Jewelry on Durant.

When a Linguistics major takes your picture…
he might ask you to cover up the “d” and the “w” in the “Dwinelle” sign because it’s “such an unattractive combination of sounds.” (Maybe he said unusual—I was a little baffled and it took me a minute to process.)
I love this BRIGHT blouse.
Blouse: F21; Ruched skirt: odd boutique in the St. Louis Mills outlet mall; Sandals: Alice + Olivia for Payless; Bangle: Macy’s; Stud earrings: Avril Lavigne for Kohl’s.

SuperLilly
I love her beautiful prints, and that even current ones still signify a certain period in the 1960’s. Thanks for all the beauty, Lilly!
Other ways I’ve worn this skirt here and here, and here’s a vintage Lilly dress.
Skirt & crest pendant: thrifted in Indiana long ago; Tee & gem bracelet: Kohl’s; Espadrilles: Victoria’s Secret, a gift from Ann; Bangles: Strawberry; Earrings: ABC Trading Co. in STL; Sunglasses: Walgreen’s.

Wait, is that my nightgown?
Oh, no, I see my platforms, it must be a real dress. But it does kind of look like a nightgown. Sigh. Internet shopping. The fabric looks better online than it does in real life. And the wrinkling, just from your morning commute! I hate that. Oh well, I like the stripes and angles.
Dress: JCP.com; Shoes: 9West from Overstock.com; Beads: from Becky; Bracelet: Pink in Burlingame; Earrings: from Kate; Tights: Capezio, from SF Dancewear; Sunglasses: A’Gaci
And just a note about the CEO shakeup at JC Penney: even though this dress is a bit of a disappointment, I was really starting to like their new look. It was a pretty dramatic change. I wish they would have given it more time.
